Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
The journey of the 4-day Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour commences with a morning pick-up from your hotel post-breakfast. Our route leads us through the breathtaking Tizi Ntichka pass, standing at an elevation of 2260 meters, as we make our way to the enchanting Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou, a UNESCO-listed fortified village. A delightful lunch awaits at a traditional restaurant nestled within the picturesque Ait Benhaddou. Our adventure continues with visits to the historic Kasbah Taourirte and the renowned Atlas & CLA Studios in Ouarzazate, dubbed the “Hollywood of Africa” due to its rich cinematic heritage. En route to Boumalne Dades, we traverse the captivating Valley of the Roses, famed for its abundant rose production. As dusk settles, we settle into a comfortable hotel nestled in the Dades Valley, where a delectable dinner and a peaceful overnight stay await.
Day 2: Dades – Todgha Gorges - Erfoud – Merzouga – Camel Ride
Your desert adventure commences with an early breakfast and hotel pickup. We journey along the road of 1000 Kasbahs, passing through Berber villages and making stops at Todgha Gorges and Tinejdad to explore a Berber village and the historic irrigation canal. In Erfoud, you have the opportunity to visit fossil workers and explore the date market. Upon reaching the outskirts of Erg Chebbi dunes, you set out on a camel excursion into the Sahara and trek to a small oasis for the night. Accommodations are provided in a Nomad Berber tent, where you’ll enjoy a campfire ambiance with musical performances, followed by a dinner under the stars at the campfire or restaurant tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Erfoud – Todgha Gorges – Ouarzazate
Our 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga carries on. As the morning breaks, we enjoy a sunrise breakfast before dismantling our camp and departing the desert on camelback, returning to our original starting point. Afterward, we head back to the hotel for showers and breakfast. Following this, we gather our belongings and begin our journey back towards Ouarzazate. Along the way, we make a stop to explore the irrigation canal in Jorf, and then proceed to the breathtaking Todgha Gorges, known as the tallest gorges in all of Morocco.
Continuing our route, we traverse the Valley of Roses and visit a women’s cooperative where various rose products and organic items are available. We also venture through the Dades Valley. Upon arrival in Ouarzazate in the afternoon, accommodations and dinner await you at a hotel in the city.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – tichka pass – Marrakech
After breakfast in the morning, we’ll commence our journey by visiting Kasbah Taourirte and the renowned Atlas & CLA Studios, often referred to as “The Hollywood of Africa” due to their role in producing iconic films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Sahara. Following this, we’ll make our way to the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, an impressive fortified village, passing through the scenic Tizi Ntichka pass at an elevation of 2260m. Following a satisfying lunch in Taddart, a Berber village boasting a panoramic restaurant, we’ll continue our route towards Marrakech, where you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, marking the conclusion of your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
