- Itinerary
Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga
We pick you up from your hotel and take you on a journey that begins in Marrakech. We pass over the Tizi Ntichka pass (altitude: 2260 m) to reach the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning fortified village (Ksar). After lunch in a traditional restaurant, we visit Kasbah Taourirte and the Atlas & CLA studios in Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa” for its film productions such as Lawrence of Arabia and Sahara. In the Kasbah, you’ll climb to the top for a panoramic view of the Skoura palm groves.
Continuing our adventure, we journey to the Berber village of Agdez, where we’ll be captivated by the picturesque landscapes of the Draa Valley. This valley is renowned for being home to Morocco’s largest palm plantation, as well as countless Kasbahs and fortified oases. As the day draws to a close, we reach the Zagora desert, where you’ll enjoy a one-hour camel ride into the desert to marvel at a breathtaking sunset. Tonight’s accommodation will be in a traditional Berber nomad tent, where you’ll savor a delicious dinner under the desert sky at your desert camp.
Day 2: Merzouga desert camel ride to the desert camp
Today, our journey takes us into the heart of the Erg Chebbi desert dunes, where we’ll immerse ourselves in the nomadic way of life amidst the breathtaking desert landscape. Experience the striking contrast of the desert as we explore the black village of Khamlia, where the captivating rhythms of Gnawa music await. Indulge in a traditional Berber Pizza for lunch in the historic setting of Rissani, the ancient capital.
As the day draws to a close, we’ll embark on a camelback ride to witness the mesmerizing sunset over the dunes, culminating in a night spent at the desert camp. Here, we’ll savor a delicious traditional Tagine dinner, accompanied by refreshing mint tea, while enveloped in the tranquility of the desert. Gather around the campfire under the starlit sky, serenaded by the melodies of traditional Berber music, and marvel at the spectacle of the rising moon over the vast expanse of the Sahara.
Day 3: Merzouga desert – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge
We’ll begin the day by heading to a nearby hotel where you can refresh and indulge in a complimentary breakfast before our journey to Ouarzazate. En route, we’ll explore Berber villages nestled around The Todra and Dades Gorge. Upon reaching Dades Gorge, we’ll pause at a local hotel for an overnight stay, where a complimentary dinner will be provided.
Day 4: Dades Gorge – Ouarzazate
Following breakfast, our journey will persist towards Ouarzazate, traversing the route of a myriad of Kasbahs (fortresses). Along the way, we’ll pause at Kalaat Mgouna, situated at the heart of the Valley of Roses, renowned for its yearly Rose Festival. Our accommodation for the night will be at a nearby local hotel.
Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakesh
Next, we’ll proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, renowned for its appearances in Hollywood blockbusters like Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and the acclaimed HBO series Game of Thrones.
Following our visit, we’ll traverse the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass en route to Marrakesh, where we’ll spend the night at a nearby local hotel.
Day 6: Marrakech guided tour
Today’s itinerary revolves around Marrakesh, offering a comprehensive exploration of its renowned landmarks. Highlights include a visit to the bustling Jamma el Fna square, the majestic Koutoubia mosque, the vibrant souk, The Royal Palace, and several museums of cultural significance. Additionally, we’ll delve into the contemporary ambiance of Gueliz, encompassing attractions such as the tranquil Menara Gardens and Marjolle. Our journey will culminate at your designated hotel or airport.
