Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley
Your journey begins with a hotel pickup in Marrakech, followed by a scenic drive through the Tizi Ntichka pass, reaching an elevation of 2260m (6,867 ft.), en route to Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, a fortified village or Ksar, awaits your exploration. Enjoy the opportunity to wander through its historic streets and marvel at its architectural wonders.
Afterward, indulge in a delicious lunch at a traditional restaurant in Ait Benhaddou, before continuing your adventure towards Ouarzazate. Here, you’ll have the chance to visit Kasbah Taourirte and explore the renowned cinema studios of Atlas & CLA Studios, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Africa.” These studios have been the backdrop for numerous iconic films, including Lawrence of Arabia and Sahara.
Later in the afternoon, your journey continues as you drive to Boumalne Dades through the picturesque Valley of the Roses, renowned for its abundant harvest of roses used in the making of perfume, rose water, and cosmetics. En route, soak in the fragrant ambiance and breathtaking scenery of this floral paradise. Finally, arrive at your charming small hotel nestled in the heart of the Dades Valley, where you’ll unwind and spend the night.
Day 2: Dades – Todgha Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga – Camel Ride
Following an early breakfast, you’ll depart from your hotel towards the Sahara Desert. Embark on a scenic drive along the famed “Road of 1000 Kasbahs,” passing through numerous Berber villages dotting the landscape. En route, immerse yourself in the rich culture and heritage of the local communities.
Your journey will lead you to the awe-inspiring Todgha Gorges, a majestic series of limestone river canyons nestled in the eastern part of the High Atlas Mountains in Morocco. Take in the breathtaking vistas and marvel at the natural beauty of this geological wonder.
As you continue your exploration, you’ll make stops in Tinejdad to visit a Berber village renowned for its lush palm groves and in Jorf to explore the historic Canal of Irrigation. Additionally, a visit to Erfoud awaits, a charming town in southern Morocco famous for its fossil artisans and bustling Date Market. Engage with local craftsmen and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of this lively desert town.
Finally, you’ll arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you’ll embark on a camel ride and journey into the Sahara desert. You’ll also walk through the sand to a small oasis in the middle of the dunes, where you’ll spend the night in a nomadic Berber tent. Here, you can enjoy clear skies and stars, and dinner will be served under the Saharan sky or in the camp’s tent restaurant.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
On your final day, savor a sunrise breakfast before bidding farewell to the desert camp. Mount your camels for a memorable journey back to your original starting point. Following your return, freshen up with a shower and enjoy a hearty breakfast before gathering your belongings.
Your homeward journey begins as you depart towards Ouarzazate en route to Marrakech. Pause along the route for a delightful lunch break, then proceed to Ouarzazate, where you’ll arrive in the afternoon. After a brief respite, continue your drive back to Marrakech.
